Denise’s Story:

This Nutbrown elephant pie funnel is in excellent shape for being 67 years old and traveling all the way from England. I love the details from the trunk, eyes, ears to the little tail.  I will give it a try as its intended use as a steam vent for pies if I ever bake again.  I can’t even imagine having the oven on with this heat wave!  Until then, Little Nutbrown will live on a shelf in the kitchen where I can enjoy his cuteness.

Item 2: Handmade Mug

Jackie’s Story:

Oh Dear, sweet, clueless Denise. A pie steam vent? Is that what they told you? Pretty sure I saw one of those sitting on the counter of New Amsterdam Cafe a few weeks ago. Let’s just say I don’t think that little elephant, with its hollow, upturned pipe-shaped trunk, was intended for the same kind of “baked” goods that you were referring to.

Not that I have anything against that. I mean, if anyone needs a 67-year-old English elephant in their lives, it’s obviously the lady with screaming one-year-old at home. You have teenagers, after all. You should be setting an example.

Heck, there could even be an beautiful brown and black handmade coffee mug in it for you…
